IWAKO shipboard & ballast water filtration systems effectively remove particles and seawater debris from ballast water and other shipboard water lines. Ballast water filter housings are available in a full range of materials; Carbon-Steel (epoxy-coating), Stainless Steel 304L, 316L, Duplex and Supler Duplex, and Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP). Screens and all wetted components of IWAKO’s ballast water self-cleaning filters are constructed from seawater- resistant plastic or other high alloy materials.

IWAKO ballast water filters have a short, automatic cleaning cycle that does not interrupt ballasting operations. Iwako ballast filters have a small footprint, and can be installed vertically and horizontally.

Self-cleaning wastewater filters enter the treatment process at the secondary or tertiary phase where levels of organic material and suspended matter are relatively low.

The goal of tertiary treatment is to produce a final stage to improve the effluent quality before it is discharged to the receiving environment (sea, river, lake, ground, or to its reuse application). IWAKO self-cleaning wastewater filters allow the efficient removal of debris for the purpose of continuous effluent flow during this tertiary phase. Self-cleaning filters use minimal water for backwash, and do not interrupt system flow.

Self-cleaning water filters used in wastewater treatment will manage flow most efficiently when mounted in close range to the discharge of the main pump.

Water recycling/reclamation, also called water reuse, is an increasingly important method to produce water for potable and non-potable uses and for ground water recharge. As fresh water supplies become limited from circulation costs, population demands, and reduced sources, the water generated in recycling plants can help alleviate financial and resource strain.
