STAINLESS STEEL คืออะไร?
สแตนเลสคืออะไร
สเตนเลส สแตนเลส แสตนเลส หรือ เหล็กกล้าไร้สนิม นั้นถือเป็นโลหะผสมเหล็ก ที่มีโครเมียมอย่างน้อยที่สุด 10.5% ชื่อในภาษาไทย แปลจากภาษาอังกฤษว่า stainless steel เนื่องจากโลหะผสมดังกล่าวไม่เป็นสนิมอัน เนื่องมาจากการทำปฏิกิริยากันระหว่างออกซิเจนในอากาศกับโครเมียม (Cr) ในเนื้อสเตนเลส เกิดเป็นฟิล์มบางๆ เคลือบผิวไว้ ทำหน้าที่ปกป้องการเกิดความเสียหายให้กับตัวเนื้อสเตนเลสได้เป็นอย่างดี ปกป้องการเกิด Corrosion และไม่ชำรุดหรือสึกกร่อนง่ายอย่างโลหะทั่วไป สำหรับในสหรัฐอเมริกาและ ในหลายประเทศ โดยเฉพาะในอุตสาหกรรมการบิน นิยมเรียกโลหะนี้ว่า corrosion resistant steel เมื่อไม่ได้ระบุชัดว่าเป็นโลหะผสมชนิดใดและคุณภาพระดับใด แต่ในท้องตลาดเราสามารถพบเห็นสเตนเลสเกรด 18-8 มากที่สุด ซึ่งเป็นการระบุถึงธาตุที่เจือลงในในเนื้อเหล็กคือ โครเมียม 18% และนิเกิล 8% สแตนเลสประเภทนี้จัดเป็น Commercial Grade คือมีใช้ทั่วไปหาซื้อได้ง่าย มักใช้ทำเครื่องใช้ทั่วไปซึ่งเราสามารถจำแนก ประเภทของสเตนเลสได้จากเลขรหัสที่กำหนดขึ้นตามมาตรฐาน AISI เช่น 304 304L 316 316L เป็นต้น ซึ่งส่วนผสมจะเป็นตัวกำหนดเกรดของสเตนเลส ซึ่งมีความต้องการในการใช้งานที่แตกต่างกันออกไป

ASTM A234 WPB Standard Specification
ASTM A234 WPB is the Standard Specification for Piping Fittings Carbon Steel and Alloy Steel for Moderate and High Temperature Service.
Pipe bend
A bend is typically of the same material and typically a more gentle bend to prevent kinking.
ASTM A234 Scope
1.1 This specification covers wrought carbon steel and alloy steel fittings of seamless and welded construction covered by the latest revision of ASME B16.9, B16.11, MSS-SP-79, MSS-SP-83, and MSS-SP-95. These fittings are for use in pressure piping and in pressure vessel fabrication for service at moderate and elevated temperatures. Fittings differing from these ASME and MSS Standards shall be furnished in accordance with Supplementary Requirement S58 of Specification A 960/A 960M.
1.2 Optional supplementary requirements are provided for fittings where a greater degree of examination is desired. When desired, one or more of these supplementary requirements may be specified in the order.
1.3 This specification does not cover cast welding fittings or fittings machined from castings. Cast steel welding fittings are governed by Specifications A 216/A 216M and A 217/A 217M.
1.4 This specification is expressed in both inch-pound units and in SI units. However, unless the order specifies the applicable “M” specification designation (SI units), the material shall be furnished to inch-pound units.
1.5 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification.

Specification for High-Test, Wrought,
Butt-Welding Fittings
MSS SP-75 specification covers factory-made, seamless and
electric welded carbon and low alloy steel, butt-welding fittings for use in
high pressure gas and oil transmission and distribution systems, including
pipelines, compressor stations, metering and regulating stations, and mains.
MSS SP-75 Standard Practice governs dimensions, tolerances,
ratings, testing, materials, chemical and tensile properties, heat treatment,
notch toughness properties, manufacture and marking for high-test, butt-welding
fittings NPS 60 and smaller. Dimensional requirements for NPS 14 and smaller
are provided by reference to ASME B16.9.
The term “welding fittings” applies to butt-welding fittings
such as elbows, segments of elbows, return bends, caps, tees, single or
multiple-outlet extruded headers, reducers, and factory-welded extensions and
transition sections.
Fittings may be made to special dimensions, sizes, shapes,
and tolerances, or of wrought materials other than those covered by this
Standard Practice by agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser. When
such fittings meet all other stipulations of this Standard Practice they shall
be considered as being in partial compliance therewith, providing they are
appropriately marked.

For example when we compare between A106-B and A53-B
seamless from chemical composition point of view, we find that :
1. A106-B contains silicon, min. 0.10% where A53-B has
zero%, and silicon is the important element for improving the heat resistance
criteria.
2. A106-B contains manganese 0.29-1.06%, where A53-B 1.2%.
3. A106-B contains low sulfur and phosphorus, max. 0.035%
where A53-B contains 0.05 and 0.045% respectively.
